1) I am new to the city and I am need of housing, furniture, and employment

Need help with damage deposit or first months rent? We would encourage you to check out Alberta Employment and Immingration at www.employment.alberta.ca, click on “Family Supports”, then click on “Homeless and Eviction Prevention Fund” which you will see on the left hand side.

In regards to the need for furniture we would recommend Interfaith Work for Furniture Program (403-276-3173).

For your employment needs, www.bowvalleycollege.ca/careerconnection (403-202-0862) is available in the community or we would be happy to help you find a place to start your search.

2) I have been recently given a disconnection notice for my utilities – Is there any way I can get some help paying this bill?

  1. Have you tried to set up a payment arrangement with the utility company?
  2. Have you tried to contact Alberta Works for emergency Income Support?
  3. We can set up an appointment and met with you to go through some other options.

3) I am interested in the Good Food Box but I don’t know if I will qualify?

Everyone is eligible. You can call Bowwest to find out order dates and pick up locations in Ranchlands and Bowness throughout the year.

4) I have used up my three self referrals with the Interfaith Food Bank and I require a referral.

A – Yes, we can help you with that. We can set up an appointment and meet with you to complete the referral during our office hours.

5) Can you tell me about any type of resources regarding parenting?

A – You can check out the parenting portion of the website for information on parent groups, parenting courses and family resources.
